The Southern Georgia Regional Commission last month presented its 2025 Leadership Award to Jason Dunn, Executive Director of the Fitzgerald–Ben Hill County Development Authority.
Dunn, Ben Hill County Private Appointee to the SGRC Council was honored December 11 at the organization’s Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner in Homerville.
This year’s nominations highlighted exceptional leaders from across Southern Georgia — individuals deeply committed to strengthening their communities and advancing regional progress, SGRC Executive Director Kimberly Hobbs said. Dunn’s nomination rose to the top “for his vision, integrity, collaborative leadership, and dedication to building partnerships that benefit the entire region,” she said.
“Jason represents the kind of leader who not only gets things done, but inspires others through his dedication, integrity, and commitment to service,” Hobbs said during the presentation. “He honors Southern Georgia’s shared traditions while helping advance a resilient and forward-thinking future, and his leadership strengthens the entire region.”
The award cites individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, integrity, and a strong commitment to regional collaboration in the or-ganization’s 18-county area, which includes Brantley, Pierce and Ware.
Recipients exemplify innovation, public service, and dedication to improving quality of life, advancing economic opportunity, and strengthening partnerships across county and city lines throughout Southern Georgia.
For the past decade, Dunn has served in significant city, county, and nonprofit leadership roles, where he has consistently demonstrated professionalism, creativity, and ethical leadership. His work has focused on economic development, community advancement, and fostering resilience, inclusivity, and opportunity, even in the face of limited resources and local challenges.
In accepting the award, Dunn expressed deep appreciation and reflected on what makes Southern Georgia unique. He emphasized that communities across the region believe in their ability to grow, improve, and succeed, and they work together to make it happen.
The honoree praised the SGRC for its role in uniting leaders, acknowledging differences, and focusing on shared goals for the prosperity of all communities in Southern Georgia.
