Wykstra
WAYCROSS — Dongsun Shin Wykstra, 78, of Waycross died Tuesday afternoon, December 23, 2025, at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Wykstra was born in Korea to the late Shin Yong Chul and Cho Jung Ja, and lived in Stockbridge, Ga., for many years before moving to Waycross with her late husband. She was an exceptional homemaker who provided unconditional love to her family, especially her grandchildren. She read her Bible faithfully and was a member of Destination Church and Korean Presbyterian Church of Georgia.
In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by the love of her life for 50 years, John L. Wykstra.
Mrs. Wykstra is survived by her son, Dr. David Wykstra and his wife, Terra, of Waycross; six grandchildren, Jackson Wykstra, Millie Wykstra, Parker Wykstra, Maylee Sowell, Madilynn Oakley, and Johnathan Wykstra; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m, Thursday, January 8 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning an hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, January 9 at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
