MSH cited for organ donation program

Special to the WJH

Memorial Satilla Health has again earned national recognition for its efforts to increase organ, eye and tissue donor registrations across the state of Georgia through the DoNation Campaign.

MSH, in partnership with Life-Link of Georgia, the local organ and tissue recovery program, and Donate Life Georgia, the state’s organ and tissue donor registry, earned platinum recognition for having organ donation education and donor registration efforts in 2025.

During the 2024-2025 campaign cycle, Memorial Satilla was one of 88 participating hospital partners within the LifeLink service area. Through flag raisings, ceremonial honor walks, donor registration tabling events, social media, Donate Life week activities, community events, media and more, new donor registrations were added to the state donor registry.

“Each donated organ represents a lifeline, a second chance, and a beacon of hope for those facing critical health challenges,” MSH Chief Executive Officer Damon Barrett said. “By embracing the selfless act of organ donation, we not only save lives, but also cultivate a culture of compassion and solidarity within our community.”

DoNation engages workplaces of all sizes and industries to highlight the importance in the lifesaving and life-giving mission of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Since its inception in 2011, the campaign has rallied thousands of workplaces nationwide to support organ, eye, and tissue donation resulting in more than 660,000 new donor registrations and countless lives saved and healed.

Recently, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced the end of the long-running DoNation Campaign which sunsets this year.

“The success of this campaign is a direct reflection of the unwavering dedication and leadership of our Georgia hospital partners,” said Cristina Kroeppler, Director of Hospital Development, LifeLink of Georgia. “Their commitment, collaboration, and drive have been instrumental every step of the way. We are proud to stand beside them and deeply grateful for the impact they continue to make in advancing our shared mission.”
