Ware County Rec. Department to hold Senior Dance Jan. 10

 WAYCROSS — The Ware County Recreation Department stages a Senior Dance from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, January 10 at the Trembling Earth Complex, 2119 Cecil Brow Drive.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with admission $7. There will be door prizes, light refreshments, and DJ Fred Hand playing all the oldies. Call (912) 287-4488.

Free Youth Soccer Camp slated for Sunday, Jan. 11 at Rec. Dept.

NAHUNTA — A free Youth Soccer Camp will be held Sunday, January 11 from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. at the Brantley County Recreation Department on Baker Creek Road.

The camp is open to all ages and skill levels. It is being hosted by Ashley Smith, Bernie Restrepo, Ava Strickland and Brock Joyner.

Campers are asked to bring water, soccer ball (if applicable), shin guards (recommended) and athletic shoes/cleats.

‘Grand Hearts Growing Futures’ resource fair is Jan. 16, 2026 

NAHUNTA — A community resource fair for grandparents raising grandchildren will be held Friday, January 16, 2026 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Brantley County Senior Center located at 789 Burton Street.

Anyone interested in setting up a resource booth can email Dawn Deen at [email protected].

Brantley FFA Alumni Pheasant Shoot is Saturday, January 31 

RAYBON — The Brantley FFA Alumni Pheasant Shoot is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Strickland’s Tractor Shed in Raybon.

Breakfast and check in is at 9 .m. The morning shoot is scheduled for 10 a.m. and the afternoon shoot begins at 2 p.m. Lunch will be held at 12 p.m.

The cost is $250 per shooter for the 200-bird shoot. There will be 16 stations for 32 shooters. Registration includes entry to win a gun from Stanley Branch Armory.

No alcoholic beverages are allowed. Dogs and ATVs are allowed. Contestants provide their own ammunition.

Registration for free crochet classes is underway in Waycross 

WAYCROSS — Registration begins January 1 for beginners crochet classes offered free by the Ware County Recreation Department.

First class is 5 p.m., Tuesday, February 24 at 2110 Cecil Brown Drive. Participants are responsible for their own materials.

OHC writer’s group will meet Tuesday, January 20 at 4 p.m.

WAYCROSS — The Okefenokee Heritage Center’s OHC Writers group meets monthly from 4 to 6 p.m the third Tuesday of the month at 1460 N. Augusta Avenue.
