Brantley County faces second straight three-game week against visiting Clinch and Thomasville, at JDHS
ALMA — Brantley County spoiled part of Bacon County’s home Region 1-A opener splitting here Saturday night.
The Lady Herons (8-3 overall, 02 region) dropped a second straight game falling to the eighth-ranked and unbeaten Lady Red Raiders (130, 1-0) 60-53 January 3.
The Herons (5-6, 1-1) bounced back from a home loss to Fitzgerald a night earlier to end the Red Raiders’ (7-7, 0-1) three-game winning streak posting a 47-40 victory.
BCHS has a three-game schedule this week. They hosted Clinch County Monday, January 5 before opening Region 1-A action against visiting Thomasville Friday, January 9 and traveling Saturday, January 10 to Jeff Davis.
Berrien visits Tuesday, January 13. BCHS wraps up its season series traveling Friday, January 16 to Fitzgerald.

The Lady Red Raiders outscored Brantley County by 10 points over the final two quarters rallying from a three-point halftime deficit for the victory.
The Lady Herons claimed a 12-8 first quarter advantage. Bacon County chipped one point off the deficit in the second period outscoring the visitors 13-12 to trail 24-21 at intermission.
The Lady Red Raiders matched their first half output in the third period outscoring Brantley County 2112 to take a 42-36 lead into the final period. Bacon County held off the Lady Herons with an 18-17 scoring advantage over the final eight minutes.
Tamiyah Coley (four rebounds, two assists, steal) and Anniston Bowers (four rebounds, three assists, steal) paced Brantley County with 12 points and 11 points respectively.
Abbie Lee (team-high 11 rebounds, two steals, assist) followed with eight points. Chloe Johns (rebound, assist, steal) added seven points with Kirsten Smith (six rebounds, steal) netting five points.
Ella Highsmith (four rebounds, assist, steal) and Julie Carter (five rebounds, two assists, steal) each contributed four points. Edie Lowther (rebound, assist) canned a free throw.

Brantley County outscored the host Red Raiders in each of the first three quarters to take a 10-point lead into the final period.
The Herons built an 8-5 lead in a cold-shooting first quarter. They followed with a 14-11 scoring advantage in the second period to open up a 22-16 lead at the break.
Brantley County outscored the Red Raiders 11-7 during the third stanza to take a 33-23 lead into the final period. Bacon County cut three points off the margin outscoring the Herons 17-14.
Jayden Byron (six rebounds, two assist, steal, three treys) led BCHS with 12 points. Jayden Simmons (three rebounds, steal) and Nathan Howell (three rebounds, three steals, two assists, trey) followed with eight points and seven points respectively.
Cole Courson (career-high 10 assists, steal) and Tallon Collins (three steals, rebound) contributed six points apiece. Hayze Evans (steal, assist) netted four points. Tristen Dyess (five rebounds, two steals, two assists) and Holton Depratter (two rebounds) each bagged two points.
D.J. Peterson led Bacon County with 12 points. Santiago Bizzell finished with 10 points while Jamon Ellis (trey) netted seven points.
Brayden O’Neal (trey) followed with five points. Amadie Bussey and K.J. Barnes scored three points and two points respectively. Karden Barnes canned a free throw.
