Not so silent night gifts four inmates with riot charges

A Christmas Eve fight at the Pierce County Jail led to the arrest of four inmates on riot charges.

Vincent Lourozo Brown, 58, Thomas Eugene Mott II, 25, Justin Caleb Thornton, 27, and Walter Lucious Dixon III, 32, were all charged with felony riot in a penal institution.

According to Sheriff Ramsey Bennett, the four began fighting each other.

Deputy Landry Lloyd responded to the call and he and jail officials quickly broke up the fight.

No serious injuries were reported.

“It appears to be just your standard jail fight,” said Sheriff Bennett. “We have investigated, but so far we have not been able to determine what started the fight, but I can assure you we ended it and all of them are facing additional charges of rioting at the jail.”

Brown is being held for the Charlton County Sheriff’s Office and has been in custody on a probation violation since Nov. 19, 2025.

Mott II was arrested October 12, 2025 and charged with theft by taking.

Dixon has been in jail since September, 2025 on drug and trespass charges and for fleeing from law enforcement at that time.

Thornton was arrested in February, 2025, on cruelty to children, family violence, battery and possession of methamphetamine charges.
