Gilman Road and Trudie Road near Thom’s Transport and the West Fraser Mill will be getting improvements sometime during the year.
The project will include making the roads more durable and able to handle the large trucks that travel on them daily. The project will also include drainage improvements to both roads.
The work will not include the railroad underpass on Trudie Road.
A bid advertisement is included in this week’s edition of the The Times. Bid deadline is Feb. 10. Once the project is let and awarded, the work is expected to take up to six months to complete.
County Chairman Neal Bennett said the county expects to receive a local maintenance improvement grant (LMIG) from the Georgia Department of Transportation to pay for the work.
