Roderick Joseph "Roddy" Cribb, 70, of Blackshear, passed away late Saturday night, January 3, 2026, at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, following a short illness.
Born June 30, 1955, in Albany, he was a son of the late Robert Joseph Cribb and Betty Kirkland Bobbitt. He was a veteran, having served from 1975-1978 in the United States Marine Corps. He had lived in Jacksonville, FL for most of his adult life and was retired as a supervisor with Southern Bell, BellSouth, and AT&T. He and his family moved to Pierce County in 2008, and he worked for the Pierce County Board of Education Transportation Department as a bus driver.
He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Blackshear, where he served as the church treasurer, sound operator, drove the church bus and worked with the youth.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Julie Nixon Cribb, Blackshear; daughter, Veronica Leigh Cribb, Blackshear; two sons, Randal Cribb (wife Siobhan) and Adam Cribb, both of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Serenity Cribb, Aibhilin Cribb, Mairenn Cribb and Cliodhna Cribb, all of Blackshear; step-father, James “Jim” Bobbitt, St. Johns, FL; step-mother, Nettie Cribb, Jacksonville, FL; brother, Dennis Cribb (wife Amanda), Jacksonville; sister, Karla Weeks (husband Jeff), Jacksonville; nieces and nephews, Casey Cribb (wife Taylor), Kelli Hernandez (husband Bradley), Kristina Cormier (husband Tyler), Lindsey Weeks and Caron Billings (husband Joe) and several other relatives.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Bethel Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, from the Bethel Baptist Church in Blackshear.
