Emancipation program Jan. 1
The Waycross Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents its Emancipation Proclamation at noon, Thursday, January 1 at John’s Missionary Baptist Church, 864 Oak Street.
The event is free and open to the public.
Jordan Isaiah Steele and Kingsley Dion Rivers-Wesley, students in the Ware County School System will be the featured speakers.
They each will offer messages to highlight a meaningful program that commemorates freedom, heritage, and the enduring power of youthful voices that bring promise for the country’s future.
Steele is a 7th-grade honor student at Waycross Middle School. Rivers-Wesley is a secondgrader at Center Elementary.
Gerald Robinson is the church pastor.
Shiloh MBC has Watch Night
Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1701 Martin Luther King Drive will be the host church for a Watch Night Service beginning at 10 p.m. today (Wednesday, December 31).
Numerous churches including St. John Missionary Baptist Church and Big Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, both of Waycross, are sponsors of the event.

DC Downtown has food ministry
DC Downtown Food Ministry offers food items from a 5,000-square foot warehouse at 201 Jenkins Street from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The ministry serves people from more than a dozen counties in southeast Georgia and north Florida.
River of Life starts resource program
River of Life Church, 1439 Brunel Street, offers a community resource center from 10 a.m. to noon, the fourth Friday of each month.
The River Missions program will offer practical life skills, hot meals, clothing and more. Next session is December 26.

Way of Cross EPC has food giveaway
Way of the Cross EPC holds a free food and clothing giveaway at 8 a.m. the first Saturday of each month at 512 Lee Avenue.
People should bring a bag or box for items. The first-come, first-served giveaway will next be held January 3.
Items are available from donations by Waycross Food Distributor, Southern Acre Farm, LLC and Charlie’s Chicken.

Men With Power meets 1st Saturday
Men With Power meets the first Saturday of each month at Faith Outreach Ministries, 200 Tebeau Street.

Feed My Sheep seeks donations
Peter Feed My Sheep food ministry is accepting donations for its meal program for the homeless.
In addition to the holiday meals, the outreach provides clothing and personal hygiene items to the needy.
