My favorite subject to photograph is Zirkle
The rugged beauty of the Little Satilla River flowing through Zirkle continues to bring Wayne Morgan back to a long forgotten community.

Anyone who knows me, knows that my favorite subject to photograph for many years has been Zirkle on the Little Satilla River.

Since my neighbor, Jeff Moody, told me about the place in 2007, I have made the 12mile trek to what once was a thriving town of several hundred people countless times.

The rugged beauty there still draws me to it every chance I get. I have taken pictures of the Little Satilla at its lowest point when the water was nothing but a trickle.

I have been there when it was flowing at its maximum flow and you couldn't even see the dam at all. I even named one of my hardcover Coffee table books, Zirkle To Alaska showing how much I think about the place.

One day last week I received an unexpected message from the owner of Georgia Film Works. He wants to come interview me after the first of the year and see what I know about the history of Zirkle.

We have talked several times since then while making plans for our upcoming meeting. He wants me to show him some of the artifacts that I have, tell him what I know about the history, and show him around the place.
