First Baptist Children present Christmas program ‘We Three Spies’

Listening and watching children sing and recite the triumphant coming of Christ is the way for all to celebrate the Savior’s birth. Joyful and dynamic applause rang out Sunday night for Blackshear First Baptist Church’s children as they performed a classified Christmas adventure “We Three Spies.’’

A capacity audience of proud parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents and friends shared the joyful presentation of children in the First Kids Choir and the Pre-School Kids Choir. The brilliant stage was perfectly set for the background as the young actors performed the exciting Christmas mission of “We Three Spies.”

Agents E, L and F were recruits with the CIK (Christmas Intelligence Kids), a covert group of spies who secretly bring Christmas to the needy. But this year they faced an especially difficult challenge in keeping Ms. Harriet (Alary Bedford) King, a Scrooge-like landlord, from evicting them from their headquarters, confiscating donations and canceling their Christmas Nativity Program. It took a little expert espionage and a lot of God’s unconditional love for Ms. King to change her tune as she finally joined the CIK and the entire town in a musical celebration of the true meaning of Jesus’ birth.

Throughout the full seated pews, the audience expressed a “a feel good Christmas lift spark”. The children sang songs like “God With Us”, “Glory” and “I Love Christmas.” The Pre-School Kids Choir launched the musical with welllearned songs and gave a memorable performance.

Directors Stephanie Carter, Kellie Crump, Callan Smith and Staci Lewis taught the children well as their expressions and joy were so evident. Pre-schoolers include: Hannah Carter, Paisley Lewis, Stetson Page, Olivia Bell, Camilla Smith, Silas Brannon, Lazarus Smith, Sawyer Turner, Mac Hilton, Jackson Talley, Ella Mattox and Collin Bullard.

Members of the First Kids Choir include: Mila Anderson, Everest Anderson, Alary Bedford, Landri Bennett, Hartlee Boatright, Kassidy Boatright, Brooks Brannon, Allie Brewer, Charlie Grace Brewer, Addison Bullard, Hadley Bullard, Maren Burgess, Ayla Carter, Abbigail Carter, Jordan Carter, Caroline Ferrell, Hindree Hart, Mabel Howard, Presley Howell, Emma James Mattox, Peyton Middleton, Judah Peters, Liza Rae Roberts, Barrett Talley and Patrick Wilson.

Applause rose for the entire performance, including the costumes, stage set, lighting, audio and overall presentation. Continued applause was for FBC Kids director Amy Gambrell, assistant directors Jordan Talley and Jenni Richey, set construction by Jackson Gambrell and a special thanks to the Audio Ministry crew.

Church pastor, the Rev. Dr. Justin Gambrell, welcomed everyone. Families joined in closing with prayer and lastly took many pictures of their talented children. The musical was created by Christy Semsen and arranged by Daniel Semsen.

The audience at FBC of Blackshear applauds the children’s performances in “We Three Spies”.
