Prior to the adjournment of the December regular session of the Blackshear City Council, outgoing members Theodore Mackey of District 4 and Chuck Ward of District 3 were both presented with commemorative plaques as a memento of their service. Councilman Mackey said he enjoyed his time on the council and how it got him more involved with the community, but felt it was time for someone else to step in. Beginning in 2026, District 4 will be represented by Pastor Charles Broady Sr. and District 3 will be represented by the Rev. Mitch Hall. Broady and Hall both won uncontested races to replace the outgoing council members.
