PCHS second in 7-team Ware Co. meet

Pierce County swimmers close out 2025 with runner-up finishes

WAYCROSS — Pierce County High School’s swim team finished second here at the YMCA in the seven-team “Night Before Christmas” swim meet hosted by Ware County.

The Lady Bears won the girls’ division with the Bears finishing fourth in the final competition before Christmas. Overall, Camden County collected 54 points for the team title with PCHS next with 34 points. The rest of the field included Valdosta (31), Southeast Bulloch (20), Valwood (18), Ware County (11) and Glynn County Schools (10).

The Lady Bears’ medley relay team of Lyla Brooker, Teagan Dixon, Jasmine Sergent and Jacey Ryals posted a first-place time of 2:11.26. They also won the 400-yard freestyle relay event with a time of 4:20.63.

Ryals had the lone individual first-place finish winning the 500 free with a time of 6:11.18.

Dixon recorded two runner-up finishes in the 50 free (28.52 seconds) and the 100 free 1:05.54). Brooker was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:19.25.

Third-place showings were recorded by Ryals (29.01 sec.) in the 50 free and Brooker (1:05.74) in the 100 free.

Khloe Hewatt (1:56.31) placed fourth 100 backstroke.

Sam Chesser led the Bears with a second-place finish in the 200 intermediate with a time of 2:33.98.

The Bears’ 200 freestyle relay team Davis Dyal, Rowan McCrea, Donald Moser and Chesser posted a time of 1:44.59 finishing second.
