Donations to Empty Stocking Fund break last year’s record

Pierce County’s “Empty Stocking Fund grew to a record $900 this week.

“We are thankful for the generosity of our community and to have a recordbreaking year is just a blessing,” said Rick and Sandy Head, publishers of The Times.

Earlier donations include: Melissa Lee, Suni’s Ceramic Christmas Trees, Anonymous (2), In Memory of Ned Baumbach, In Memory of Tristin Aspinwall and Comfort Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

Now in its third year, the “Empty Stocking Fund” collected $225 for its inaugural year in 2023 and $500 in 2024.

Monies collected for the fund will be evenly distributed to assist two wellknown local charities, the Pierce County Food Pantry and The Sycamore Tree.

The fund raises money for those who find themselves facing circumstances whereby there is a lack of sufficient resources for their short-term situation.

Contributions will be accepted through the month of December and acknowledged in The Times.

Donations to the fund may be delivered from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., weekdays to The Times office at 126 NW Central Avenue, Blackshear or mailed to: Empty Stocking Fund, The Blackshear Times P.O. Box 410 Blackshear, GA 31516.
