HOBOKEN — A Ware County High School senior was killed December 13 and three others injured when the vehicle she was traveling in struck another vehicle just south of here.

Olivia Grace Ray, 17, died in the Saturday night accident which occurred at 9:47 p.m. Ray was riding in a 2016 GMC Acadia driven by Peyton Mackenzie Turner, 18, of Blackshear.

According to the report of Georgia State Patrol Trooper Adam Screws of Post 16 in Hazlehurst, which was officially released Monday, December 22, the Turner vehicle was traveling north on Hwy. 121 when he veered into the southbound lane attempting to overtake multiple vehicles.

Wilbur David Williams, 55, of Folkston, was traveling south in a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. The Williams’ vehicle maneuvered left to avoid impact with vehicle one.

The Turner vehicle maneuvered left towards the ditch. The front right side of the GMC Acadia struck struck the front right side of the Chevrolet Silverado causing the GMC Acadia to rotate counter clockwise while traveling off the west side of the roadway and overturned.

The 2016 GMC Acadia came to an uncontrolled rest facing south. The area of impact was in the southbound lane of Hwy. 121.

Multiple witnesses stated they observed the Turner vehicle attempting to pass in the northbound lane moments before the crash occurred.

Ashton Herrin, 19, and Cameron Rowe, 18, were also passengers in the Turner vehicle. There were no passengers in the Williams’ vehicle.

Ray, who was expecting, Turner, Herrin and Rowe were all transported to Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross. Ray’s daughter, Lakelyn Grace Ray Turner, also died in the accident.

Williams did not require treatment.

No charges have been issued by the Georgia State Patrol, according to a GSP spokesperson.

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) were called in to investigate the accident.

Ray was the beloved WCHS Gator mascot for the last two years for the football program. She was recently voted Most Memorable by her 2026 graduating classmates.

A funeral service was held Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the Ware County Middle School auditorium. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
