Special to the WJH The Waycross Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents its Emancipation Proclamation at noon, January 1 at John’s Missionary Baptist Church, 864 Oak Street.
The event is free and open to the public.
Jordan Isaiah Steele and Kingsley Dion Rivers-Wesley, students in the Ware County School System will be the featured speakers.
They each will offer messages to highlight a meaningful program that commemorates freedom, heritage, and the enduring power of youthful voices that bring promise for the country’s future.
Steele is a 7th-grade honor student at Waycross Middle School. He is the son Aalia Reed, grandson of Bennie and Carol Reed, and great-grandson of Ethel Blair.
Rivers-Wesley is a second-grader at Center Elementary School. She is the daughter of Jeremiah Wesley and Dr. Yolanda Rivers.
Gerald Robinson is the church pastor.
