The Pierce County Volunteer Fire Department (PCVFD) came together as a family at the Historic Blackshear Train Depot for their annual Christmas banquet December 5.
The annual banquet is a special night each year for the county’s firefighters to enjoy fellowship, celebrate one another and express gratitude for the chance to give another year of service to their communities.
The night is also a time to honor the many families who sacrifice so much by sharing their loved ones with the wider community at a moment’s notice. Whether it’s stepping away from the dinner table, a Sunday afternoon nap or a game of football in the backyard, local firefighters answer the call without hesitation.
This year, the PCVFD presented two major awards at the banquet.
The 2025 Station of the Year was Walkerville Fire Station and Firefighter of the Year went to Miranda Deloach.
The PCVFD is deeply grateful to generous sponsors who made the door prizes and evening celebration possible including Mossy Pond, Mike Burch Ford, Tanner Auto Repair. Piggly Wiggly, Jerry J’s, J. Leonards, Rockin’ Bear, Hog-N-Bones, Southern Roost, Wild Adventures Theme Park, Pearson-Dial Funeral Home, Steel and Metal Systems and RDI.
A special thanks was extended by those gathered to Hog-N-Bones of Douglas for providing the meal that everyone shared and enjoyed together. An extra note of thanks went to First District County Commissioner Troy Mattox and Fourth District County Commissioner David Lowman for joining in and supporting the county’s firefighters.
The most important toast of the night? “Here’s to another year of service, sacrifice, and community. Merry Christmas from the Pierce County Fire Department,” said Chief Todd.
