Ruger
BLACKSHEAR — Mr. Harrison Scott Ruger, 80, of Blackshear, died alongside his wife, Edna Elaine Ruger, Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born in Waycross to the late Arthur Earl Ruger and Daisy Mae Godw i n Ruger. Ruger had made Blackshear and Waycross his home for most of his life. Ruger served his country in the United States Navy. He was retired from the State of Georgia where he worked in the Department of Natural Resources as a Game Warden. He was a member of Hacklebarney Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ruger.
He is survived by two children, Sarah Wisecup (Steven) of Commerce, and Scott Ruger of Blackshear; six grandchildren, Madison Wisecup, Henry Wisecup, Alex Wisecup, Joseph Ruger (Rebekah), Dakota Ruger, and Caleb Ruger; one great grandchild, Grayson Ruger; five siblings, Arthur Ruger (Susie), Jean Howard (Danny), Clara Bell Dyson, Steve Ruger, and Linda Sims; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service for Ruger and his wife will be held together at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 18 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ben James Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, December 17) at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
