The Bible says:
“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
— Revelation 20: 10
The Satan we are familiar with was before his fall called Lucifer. The name Lucifer means “son of the morning.” He was the light bearer, the guardian or protector of the Holy Throne of God, the angelic world’s highest rank.
God gave Lucifer his name when He created him sinless with sound and total moral integrity and exalted him to high position and power. Satan — adversary, accuser, and slanderer — was the name Lucifer got for himself when he exercised his free will and sinned by rebelling against the Almighty.
At his demise, Lucifer had one third of the angels of heaven bow to him and join him in his rebellion against God.
(Revelation 12: 4) Satan also has an innumerable company of demons that give him homage.
Lucifer, because of his beauty and position and power, became proud and attempted to lift himself above God and receive worship that was due to the only thrice-holy God. (Isaiah 14: 12-14) Satan is the prince (John 14: 30; 16: 11) and god of the world-system that he has organized on the principles of force, greed, selfishness, ambition, and sinful pleasure. Those who follow the world-system are following and bowing to Satan. (James 4: 1-8) Those who follow false religions, those religions that do not adhere to the revealed truth in Scripture (2 Corinthians 4: 4, 11:1 3-15; Mark 7:4; Galatians 4: 8-10; 1 Timothy 4: 1-3; 2 Timothy 4: 1-4) bow to Satan. Those who bow to idols are bowing to Satan. (Leviticus 17: 7; Deuteronomy 32: 17; 1 Corinthians. 10: 20) There are some satanic churches or congregations who openly and unashamedly worship Satan. During the Tribulation the world will bow to Satan when the Antichrist who personifies Satan is worshipped as God (2 Thessalonians 2: 3, 4) and all those who bow receive the mark of the beast and in so doing seal their destiny for Hell. (Revelation 13: 16; 14: 9-11)
Satan attempted to get Jesus to worship him and bow to him, but failed miserably because Jesus trusted in the Scriptures.
(Matthew 4: 1-11) Satan spends his time and energy and power of deception to get people to bow to him and his will instead of to God and His will.
But Satan has not bowed to anyone, but he will bow his knee to Jesus and confess with his mouth one day that He is Lord before he is cast into the lake of fire where he will suffer for eternity.
