The Phi Delta Kappa educational sorority’s Delta Zeta chapter welcomed five new members to its affiliate groups Xinos (girls) and Kudos (boys) during an initiation ceremony December 7 at Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. Following the initiation, the members presented their special talent of readings, instrumental music selections, and a praise dance to the audience. The youth affiliate groups are high school students in grades 9-12 whose purpose is to provide a wide variety of cultural enrichment activities, to maintain high scholastic averages, and to aid in developing well-rounded students. Youth advisors Dr. Brenda Spearman and Tiffany Golden prepared the students for the ceremony. The new members are above (l-r) Zoe Merday, Damari Bennett, Terence Harvey (also left), Emily Howard, and Joshua Golden.
