WAYNESVILLE — A Nahunta man was apprehended by the Brantley County Sheriff’s Office and faces an Aggravated Assault charge.
William Joseph Simpson, 34, of a Burton Street address i n Nahunta, was taken into cust ody Tuesday, Decem ber 9 at 5:27 p.m. According to the report of Deputy Connor Steedley, he was dispatched to a Whisper Ridge Road residence in reference to a physical domestic call. Steedley wrote he heard shouting from inside the residence when he knocked on the door.
The victim answered the door stating Simpson ran out the back door. Steedley, after searching the yard to no avail, returned to get the victim’s statement.

She said Simpson showed up and began to hit on her and make verbal threats of killing her. The victim said Simpson grabbed a wooden chair and broke it across her back.
Brantley County EMS responded and checked the victim finding a bruise on her back where she said she was hit with a chair.
Deputy Steedley noticed the back of the wooden chair was broken off as well as noticing defensive woulds on her right forearm/ wrist.
The victim was transported to the hospital via Brantley County EMS.
Investigator Mike Foreman informed Deputy Steedley he had been tipped of Williams whereabouts. During questioning, the witness said he gave Simpson a ride to a residence on Whisper Ridge Road.
Steedley headed tot he residence, knocked on the door and asked if Simpson was inside. After getting a “yes” response, Deputy Steedley took Simpson into custody with further incident.
Steedley charged Simpson with Aggravated Assault for striking the victim with a wooden chair.
