Barbara Jean Head

WAYCROSS — Mrs. Barbara Jean Head, 77, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Hospice House Satilla following an extended illness.

Mrs. Head was born in Waycross to the late James Edison Taylor and Retha Mae Music Taylor. She graduated from Waycross High School in 1966 and retired from AT&T after 30 years of service as a telephone operator. Mrs. Head was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Most recently, she worked in the records department at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross. When able, Mrs. Head attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother who loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Head was preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie Taylor and Danny Taylor.

She is survived by her two daughters, Dawn Head and Amber Head, both of Pensacola, Fla.; honorary grandchildren, Harrison Cristobal (Kate), Tanner Cristobal (Asley Strickland), Chloe Anna Griffin, Ella Jaye Griffin and Wrenley Cristobal; a brother, Dennis Taylor (Rita) of Waynesville; sisters- in-law, Alice Taylor of Waycross and Barbara Taylor; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Griffin (Timothy), Jonathan Taylor, Lori Pitts (Wes) and Chris Taylor (Marci); and two special friends, Faye Clark of Blackshear and Nancy Mock of Waycross.

A funeral service was held Monday, December 15, 2025 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
