BRUNSWICK — Carroll J. King, 81, passed on to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born November 30, 1944 in Dixie Union, Ga., King was the son of Ed and Eva Mae Rowell King. He was the Maintenance Supervisor/Director of the Brunswick Housing Authority until his retirement in 2006, after nearly 20 years of service.
Before going to work for the housing authority, King was a tinter at Fuller O’Brien Paint Company for several years.
King was a man of few words who would do anything he could to help someone else. He was a good man and a devoted husband. Those who knew King will always remember him singing, dancing, listening to music and being an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He enjoyed fishing, racing, gardening, and being with his family.
King is survived by his wife of 40 years, Yvonne P. King; a daughter, Holly Durden (Adam) of Brantley County; brothers, Donald “Duck” King of Dixie Union and Gregory “Rooster” King (Debra) of Camden County; a sister, Bridgett King of Dixie Union; one grandchild, Tyler Durden (Jayci); a sister-in-law, Debra Phillips (Tim) of Florida; and a brother-in-law, Bill Phillips (Lynn) of Brunswick.
King is also survived by many more loved ones, including Ashley Mc-Gowen (Shawn), Shae Simmons, Tyrus Skipper (Emily), Tonya Bennett, Donna Gaddis, Eddie King, Sharla Anderson, Johnny Johnston, Dana Hand, Brandi Ferguson, Amy Lloyd and several more nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Friday, December 12, 2025 at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Entombment followed in the Lakeside Mausoleum in Brunswick Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Tyler Durden, Justin Deen, Pat Browning, Tyrus Skipper, Johnny Johnston and Evan Dixon.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Phillips and Tim Burkhalter.
