12 PCHS players named All-Region

BEARVILLE — Pierce County junior running back Jae’Veon Williams was named the Region 3AA Offensive Player of the Year in voting by region coaches at the end of the regular season.

Williams was one of 12 PCHS players to receive all-Region honors. As has been a tradition for the Bears’ region, the all-Region team recipients were announced after all region teams were eliminated from the state playoffs.

Pierce County, which finished 9-3 and lost in the second round to Carver-Atlanta, had six First Team and five Second Team members chosen.

Earning First Team offensive honors senior wide receiver Nigel Brown and fullback Rowan McCrea, junior tight end Leland Williams and offensive lineman Logan Spivey, Earning First Team de-fensive honors were junior defensive back Chance Williams and sophomore defensive back Dylan Johnson.

Named to the Second Team offensive unit were senior quarterback Drake Dowling and senior fullback Marquez Leggett, along with junior offensive lineman Trent Kennedy.

Receiving Second Team defensive honors were senior linebacker Johnnie Stone and sophomore defensive back Kendric Benton.

Crisp County had the most selections with nine First Team honorees and nine Second Team honorees. Region champion Appling County had six First Team selections and six Second Team selections. Both Cook and Tattnall County had four First Team members and two Second Team members.

Williams had a breakout 2025 campaign finishing the year with region-leading 1,797 yards (fourth-highest) on 241 carries (fifth-most) and 30 touchdowns (third-most). He rushed for over 100 yards in each of the final 10 games (second-most season) including 230 yards against Vidalia and 283 yards (third-best in post-season; fourth overall) in a playoff win against Ringgold.

Williams scored at least two touchdowns in all 12 games (second-longest streak). He scored a career- high four touchdowns against both Wayne County and Brooks.

Brown finished the year with 12 catches for 202 yards in two scores splitting time on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Rowan, used primarily as a blocker, caught a pass for 28 yards in the second round loss at Carver-Atlanta.

Leland Williams, also used primarily as a blocker, caught one pass for 24 yards. Spivey helped anchor an offensive line which helped produce 259.3 yards on the ground and 327.4 total.

Chance Williams and Johnson were part of ballhawking secondary that came away with 13 interceptions. Williams returned one of his thefts for a touchdown. PCHS’s defensive unit allowed opposing quarterbacks to complete just 42 percent of their passes (75-of-177).

Dowling, after sitting out his junior season, returned as a starter for his final campaign. He finished the year rushing 170 times for 995 yards and eight touchdowns. Dowling completed 41-of-64 passes (64%) for 741 yards and seven scores to go along with eight interceptions.

Leggett, who split offensive and defensive reps as a linebacker, caught three passes for 71 yards being used mostly as a lead blocker. Kennedy helped the PCHS offensive control the ball for 25:21 seconds of possession time.

Stone helped control the middle of the defensive alignment from his linebacker position. The Bears allowed 232.9 yards per game with 143.1 accrued on the ground. Opponents converted just 32% of their third down attempts and 36% on fourth down.

Benton joined Chance Williams and Johnson in the PCHS secondary allowing enemy quarterbacks to throw for just 90.8 yards per game.
