WAYCROSS — Mr. John R. Hayman, 65, of Waycross passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health after a sudden illness.
He was born in Waycross to the late Joe Rufus Hayman and Beatrice Doub erly Hayman. He graduated from Ware County High School in 1978. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged after four years of service. Hayman then moved to St. Augustine, Fla., where he began working for Florida East Coast Railroad.
He married Lynne Tyson in 1985, and they made their home in St. Augustine for the majority of their life. He retired from Florida East Coast Railroad in 2020 after 37 years of service. After his retirement, he and Lynne moved back to Waycross. They settled in his parents’ house, and he took great pride and joy in giving his childhood home a complete restoration.
A “Jack-of-all-Trades,” Hayman enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. More than anything he loved his family and cherished every moment he was able to spend with them.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Travis Hayman.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne Hayman of Waycross; two daughters, Staci Kelly (Dan) of St. Augustine, and Jena Wisneski (Adam) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Taylor Duke (Holden), and Collin Kelly; one brother, Andy Hayman (Mandy) of Waycross; his Boykin Spaniel “Rufus;” and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
