Williams wins award

Donna Sue Williams of Memorial Satilla Health was recently honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award, which is presented quarterly, is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the superior efforts nurses perform every day. Williams, a resident of Waycross, is a registered nurse who works in the post-partum unit. She’s worked at Memorial Satilla for a year. “At 29 weeks pregnant, I had severe back pain so I came into the ER, and they checked my baby’s heartbeat. She wasn’t doing so good so I had an emergency Csection and was admitted to post-partum,” said a former patient. “Donna Sue was always willing to help me when I needed it. What really stood out was how caring she was even when busy.” Added another patient: “She stopped everything to help me. She was attentive, responsive, well trained, and so sweet. She made me feel like we had been best friends for years while she took care of me.” The hospital also presents the Sunflower Award for non-nursing staff on a quarterly basis.
