Eleven years ago, the new Jerry J’s had not moved to its new location along Highway 82 and next to the water tower very long.
Of course I had my camera with me like always. I had act ually been seeing a Great Egret in the ditch behind the new location.
I had been taking pictures of it catching a crawfish and a few minutes later I went inside Jerry J’s to eat breakfast.
Six ladies that I knew were there — Alisa, Heidi, Mary Jo, Denise, Gina and Jerri Lynn. One of them (I think it was Alisa) asked me to get their picture standing out by the entrance doors on the west side of the building.
I told them normally I shoot birds and not people, but I would see what I could do.
Little did I know on May 10, 2015 Denise Sears Moody would pass away. Alisa Altman Peeples passed December 4, 2015.
Less than one year after I took this picture, both of these nice young ladies were no longer with us. Both gone way too soon.
In this picture on the right, Alisa (always the quick witted one) said something and had Denise laughing as I got their picture. I wish I could remember what she said that was so funny.
On another note, Joey Steedley also graduated in the Brantley County Class of 1980 with these ladies. He just lost his battle with cancer and passed away last week.
The Brantley County Class of 1980 has lost too many at such a young age. Alisa, Denise and Joey were all so well liked in their class.
At Joey's viewing Friday night (December 5), Frye Funeral Home was really packed with the lines backed up to console the family members most of the night.
