
Brenda Joyce Peek James, 81, of Blackshear, passed away Monday night, December 1, 2025, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born June 29, 1944, in Atlanta, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Sally Johnson Peek. She and her family moved to Pierce County in 1972 and worked for The Blackshear Bank for many years, retiring as a bank officer.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackshear and had attended the Wesley Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joel Harvey James.
Survivors include her 2 children, Lance James (wife Pam), Blackshear and Jennifer Strickland (husband Dan), Blackshear; five grandchildren, Jessica Richardson (husband Justin), Jennifer Edwards (husband Blake) and J.T. James (wife Lyndssey), all of Blackshear, Danny Strickland (Ryan Hunter), Atlanta, and Katie Kuick (husband Devin), Charlotte, NC; seven great-grandchildren, Christian (Jordan) Edwards, Caden Edwards, Jackson Richardson, Logan Richardson, Emma Grace James, Micah James and Anna-Faith James; a great-great granddaughter, Olivia Ann Edwards; brother, Raymond Peek Jr. (wife Judy), Palmetto and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
