Wanted city man captured after foot chase

An attempt by Waycross Police Department officers to apprehend a wanted subject Sunday afternoon led to a foot chase and the arrest of the man, Assistant Police Chief Danny Hampton said Monday.

Danny Aldridge was arrested and charged with Obstruction of an Officer after the chase, Hampton said, adding Aldridge was the subject of a warrant by the Ware County Sheriff’s Office.

About 1:30 p.m., November 30, WPD personnel responded to the 1400 block of Brunel Street regarding a wanted subject being at the location.

Upon the arrival of officers, Aldridge fled on foot. Officers gave chase, finally apprehending Aldridge after he ran through a nearby canal and into a storm drainage pipe, said Hampton.

Aldridge was transported to the Ware County Jail where the obstruction warrant was served.
