Exchange honors Lin as Nov. YOM

Special to the WJH

The Waycross Exchange Club honored Ware County High School senior Kevin Lin as its November Youth of the Month, recognizing his outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and service to the community.

Lin, the son of Dan Chen and Li Lin, ranks third in his class of 323 students and maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA. His accomplishments extend well beyond the classroom, where he has distinguished himself as a leader and role model among his peers.

At Ware County High, Lin is active in numerous academic and service organizations, including HOSA, Beta Club, Math Team, Quiz Bowl, and the National Honor Society (NHS). He currently serves as President of the Ware County FBLA chapter and as a Region Officer for Georgia FBLA, representing 24 counties across Southeast Georgia.

His leadership also reaches the state level, where he contributes to the Georgia Department of Education’s Student Advisory Council.

Lin’s dedication has earned him multiple accolades, including statelevel FBLA competition qualifications, a national win at the National Beta Convention, and the Georgia Certificate of Merit from the University of Georgia.

This past summer, he received the prestigious Sgt. Kennedy “24 Under 24” Youth Leadership Award, honoring young leaders making a difference in their communities.

His service record is equally impressive. Lin has logged more than 100 hours of community service through Beta Club and NHS, volunteering at local festivals and mentoring younger students.

He also serves on the Junior Board of Directors at Waycross Bank and Trust, further demonstrating his commitment to civic engagement.

Outside of school, Lin has balanced work and service since 2018, employed at No. 1 Wok as a cashier and kitchen assistant. In the summer of 2024, he interned at Helping Hands Behavioral Solutions, where he organized a special trip for more than 50 underprivileged children, managing logistics and chaperoning with professionalism and care.

“Kevin is a young man of integrity, initiative and heart,” Exchange Club Youth of the Month Chairman Danny Bartlett noted in his presentation. “He represents the very best of our community’s future.”

The Waycross Exchange Club proudly celebrates Kevin Lin as November’s Youth of the Month, honoring his achievements and the promise he brings to Ware County and beyond.
