Blackshear’s Boggs recognized as Mercer University trustee

Blackshear’s Michael P. Boggs, a partner at HunterMaclean and retired chief justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, was recognized for completing a five-year term on Mercer University’s Board of Trustees. Boggs was recognized during Mercer’s annual Homecoming meeting Nov. 14 in historic Penfield.

Other trustees who rotated off the board and were recognized for their service include Virgil L. Adams, Macon; Ashley Amos Copelan, Macon; Julie Long, Macon; W. Louis Sands, Albany; Jennifer Nunn Tarbutton, Sandersville; and J. Henry Walker IV, Atlanta.

The board also elected nine new trustees, whose terms began at the conclusion of the meeting. They include Heather Darden, Atlanta; Nathan Deal, Demorest; Donna Hyland, Atlanta; Stanley Jones, St. Simon’s Island; Shaun King, Atlanta; J. Curtis Lewis, Savannah; Brandon L. Peak, Columbus; Chip Russell, Forsyth; and Marc Treadwell, Forsyth.

Kennesaw's Cathy Callaway Adams was elected chair of the board, and Raymond McLeod (Thad) Warren III was elected chair of the Executive Committee for 2026. David E. Hudson, who completed a record eighth five-year term on the board, was elected a Life Trustee.
