Sorority has vets program

Waycross City Commissioner and retired U.S. Air Force veteran Alvin Nelson was guest speaker for a recent meeting of the Delta Zeta chapter of the national educational sorority Phi Delta Kappa recognizing Veterans Day. Members sang “God Bless America” to open the presentation to honor Nelson and all veterans for their service to our country. Commissioner Nelson then detailed his military service abroad and in the states. He explained to the members why he joined the Air Force and how rewarding his service career was to the country. Chapter president Carol Reed, presented Nelson with a red, white, and blue star frame

with signatures of each member present as a “thank you” for his participation in the sorority’s recognition of Veterans Day.
