Ware County seniors Ja’Mario Rice, Walker Hudson and Landon Smallwood were recently recognized by Region 1AAAA coaches for individual honors during selection for all-region teams.
Rice shared Offensive Player of the Year with Benedictine senior quarterback Stephen Cannon.
Smallwood was one of three named Offensive Lineman of the Year along with Benedictine senior Carton Hall and Warner Robins senior Chase Plank.
Walker also shared Defensive Lineman of the Year laurels with Perry senior Noah Clark.
The Gators had five other players named First Team all-Region and five Second Team all-Region. Two more earned honorable mention.
Benedictine senior Bubba Fraizer was tabbed Player of the Year. He was joined by senior Kameron Cody as Defensive Player of the Year.
Warner Robins senior X’zavier Cannon was named Athlete of the Year. Wayne County senior place-kicker Emanuel Herrera was the Special Teams Player of the Year.
Three players shared Scholar Athlete of the Year. Benedictine senior Larson Little along with New Hampstead senios Erik Hockman and Ben Hockman.
Warner Robins’ head coach Shane Sams was named the Coach of the Year.
Ware County’s other First Team selections were junior quarterback Isaiah White, senior running back Tayshaun Franklin, senior offensive linemen Cason Hall and Kyler Matthews, and senior defensive lineman Seth Seuss.
Second Team selections included senior running back Jamir Boyd, junior wide receiver Ja’Londi O’Hara, senior offensive linemen Jakyre Gillyard and Will Hines, and senior linebacker Avontae Ballentine.
Senior linebacker Nick Grant and junior wide receiver Gunter Fore received honorable mention recognition.
