HOBOKEN — Mrs. Glinda Dianne Rhodes, 75, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025 at her residence in Hoboken following an extended illness.
Mrs. Rhodes was born in Douglas to the late James Callie Thigpen and Lula Mae Dempsey Thigpen. She was a homemaker most of her life. Mrs. Rhodes was remembered as a loving mother, friend, and mentor who touched many lives.
She was a strong woman who loved unconditionally, and in her spare time she could grow anything.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Ann Taylor.
She is survived by a son, James Carl King of Hoboken; a daughter, Kandi Marie Hinkle of Craigsville, W. Va.; five grandchildren, Amy Smart (Bradley), James King, Michael King (Amber), Kelsey Brooke Griffin and Kaitlyn Briannia Griffin; nine greatgrandchildren, Courtney Baker, Haley Baker, Ansley King, Justin Martin, Skyy Purdom, Michael Smart, Braylen Smart, James King, Jr., and Colton King; three greatgreat grandchildren; and eight siblings, Jean Redding (Elton), Linda Tanner (Mickey), Donald Thigpen, Richard Thigpen, Melvin Thigpen, Ken Mullis, Keith Mullis, and Kathy Carlson (Jim); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Thursday, November 20, 2025 at High Bluff Cemetery.
Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
