Lady Bears return to action next week vs. Jeff Davis

Pierce County’s Lady Bears tipped their season with a pair of losses to Class A competition in the first week of action.

PCHS (0-2) opened their 2025-26 campaign falling 50-44 to visiting Bacon County (3-0) Tuesday, November 18.

Pierce County fell 4929 at Charlton County (11) Thursday, November 20.

The Lady Bears are off this week for Thanksgiving. The matchup in Homerville with Clinch County scheduled for Tuesday, December 2 has been moved to Monday, January 26.

PCHS next takes the floor Thursday, December 4 at Jeff Davis.

Bacon County.....................50 Lady Bears .........................44 

BEARVILLE — Marnah’jah Reynolds scored a game-high 22 points leading the Lady Red Raiders past PCHS.

The Lady Bears were paced by Claire Murray’s 16 points.

Bacon County claimed a 10-8 lead at the end of the opening eight minutes. The visitors outpointed PCHS 17-11 in the second period canning three shots from beyond the arc in building a 27-19 halftime lead.

Pierce County matched its first half production during the third period outscoring the Lady Red Raiders 19-16 to trail 43-38 with eight minutes to play. The two teams combined for 13 points in the final stanza with Bacon County clipping the Lady Bears 7-6.

Ansley Hutcheson and Isabell Marx followed Murray’s lead netting seven points apiece. Madi McGatha was next with six points.

Saharah Minott and Caren Drew scored four points and three points respectively. Keirstin Jones added a free throw.

The Lady Red Raiders’ Macie Holton joined Reynolds in double figures scoring 12 points. Makala Thomas bagged nine points.

Mykeda Jones and Aaliyah Starling finished with three points apiece. Jateria Smith netted a free throw.

Charlton County.................49 Lady Bears .........................29 

FOLKSTON — Christina Farmer blistered the nylons for a game-high 34 points leading Charlton County past the Lady Bears.

The 30-point outing was the senior point guard’s 11th of her career. She has three 40-point nights including a setting her career high as a freshman of 46 points against PCHS (December 8, 2022) and matching it against Echols County (January 24, 2023).

Farmer scored 11 points in the first period helping the Indian Maidens grab a 14-6 advantage. Pierce County cut three points off the deficit in the second quarter outscoring the home team 7-4 to trail 18-13 at intermission.

Charlton County outpointed the Lady Bears 13-8 in the third stanza with Farmer netting 11 as the lead grew to 31-21. She scored 10 of the Indian Maidens’ 18 points over the final eight minutes with PCHS answering with eight points.

McGatha led the Lady Bears with eight points. Marks and Minott contributed seven points and six points respectively.

Murray finished with five points. Juse’zial James and Jesslyn Moore added two points and one point respectively.
