Sharpe family unhappy with decision

The family of Logan Sharpe issued the following statement through their spokesperson, Carla Arbery of the Stopping Ongoing Legal Oppression (SOLO) Advocacy Group.

Where Is the Accountability in O.C.G.A. DUI Enforcement?

Stopping Ongoing Legal Oppression (SOLO) Advocacy Group and the family of Logan Sharpe are issuing this statement to address the deeply troubling failure of the justice system to hold a drug-impaired driver accountable for the death of Logan Sharpe.

Under O.C.G.A. § 406-391, Georgia law clearly prohibits driving under the influence of drugs.

Yet in this case, the grand jury issued a no bill, refusing to prosecute, even though the toxicology report confirmed the driver had fentanyl and cocaine in their system at the time Logan’s life was taken.

We ask — where is the accountability? How can a Grand Jury decline to proceed in a DUI case when scientific evidence confirms the presence of deadly narcotics in the driver’s system? What does this tell our community and the State of Georgia about the strength and enforcement of our laws?

This outcome sends a dangerous and unacceptable message: that it is permissible to drive with drugs in your system and take an innocent life without consequence. It undermines public safety, erodes trust in the justice system and places every family at risk.

Logan Sharpe was an innocent child whose life mattered. The failure to pursue charges in this case represents a profound breakdown of justice and a disregard for the very laws designed to protect the public from drug-impaired drivers.

Stopping Ongoing Legal Oppression (SOLO) Advocacy Group and the Logan Sharpe family call upon the District Attorney’s Office and the State of Georgia to re-examine this case, explain how this outcome serves justice, and to take immediate steps to ensure that O.C.G.A.§ 40-6-391 is not merely a statute on paper, but a law that is upheld and respected in the pursuit of justice.

Justice for Logan is not optional. Accountability is not negotiable. Let the law work for Logan.
