With little fanfare beyond a few Facebook posts, Southern Sole Massage and Spa has set up a blessing box outside their location in downtown Blackshear. Perhaps blessing bench might be a more appropriate decision, but the generosity and community care are the same either way. Canned and boxed dry goods crowd the small seating area along with notes asking those who stop by to take what they need and to donate when they can. Plastic bags are tucked beneath the largest container along with a note asking for the container itself to not be taken. Southern Sole is the latest local business to offer help to those struggling with food insecurity this holiday season.
