BAXLEY — Pierce County’s Lady Bears swim team placed third here Saturday in a meet hosted by Appling County.
Jacey Ryals and Teagan Dixon each claimed an event in the November 15 meet. Ryals finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:28.42. Dixon captured the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:09.85.
Two relay teams posted runner-up finishes. The girls’ 200 medley relay team consisting of Jasmine Sergent, Lyla Brooker, Dixon and Ryals, improved their time by three seconds posting a 2:10.68. They were clocked at 1:54.38 in the girls’ 200 freestyle relay.
Ryals placed third in the 100 free with a time of 1:03.6. Brooker dropped a 20 seconds off of her previous best in the 100 backstroke recording a time 1:21.13.
Donald Moser shaved a second off his previous best 100 free with a time of 1:04.32.
PCHS traveled Tuesday, November 18 to Waycross for their next meet.
PCMS swimmers compete in meet BAXLEY — Pierce County Middle School’s swim teams participated here Saturday in a meet hosted by Appling County Middle School.
The Bears finished fourth with the Lady Bears finishing fifth in the November 15 meet.
Jaxon Coates recorded the lone individual win capturing the 50-yard breaststroke with a personal-best time of 36.47 seconds. He also set a personal-best time with a second-place showing in the 50 butterfly with a time of 35.29 sec.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Dow Walker, Jeremiah Henderson, Eli Thorne and Coates finished second (no time given). The 200 free relay team of Ian Martinez, Walker, Henderson and Coates placed fourth with a time of 2:25.54.
The Lady Bears’ 400 free relay team of Gwen Merck, Emma Sergent, Samaree Jernigan and Charli Paszko finished second with a time of 6:17.19. Sergent placed fifth in the 50 backstroke with a personal-best time of 40.89 seconds.
Also producing personal- best times were Gwen Merck and Erica Coggin with each dropping four seconds in the 100 free as did Makenzie Gardner in the 50 free.
Paszko improved her time in the 50 butterfly by six seconds. Reese Deloach improved in the 50 backstroke by seven seconds and the 50 free by four seconds.
Reed White shaved 10 seconds off his 50 free as did Samaree Jernigan in the 50 backstroke. Khlare Hewatt (eight seconds) and A.B. Watson (five seconds) also improved their times in their respective events.
