EVANS — Pierce County’s grappling Bears captured the 12-team ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ Saturday here at Lakeside High School outside of Augusta.
PCHS scored 222.5 points to clip runner-up Hart County’s 202.5 team score.
Freshman William Shreves (113 lbs.) and senior Gregory Sallet (120) notched individual titles in their respective weight classes. Finishing second were senior Cooper Davis (150) and junior Jay’Lynn Everett (215).
Placing third were freshman Aiden Baker (106) and senior Jackson Courson (285). Fourth-places went to freshman Tristan Crosby (113) and junior Carson Yawn (285).
Sophomore Landon Taylor (138) placed fifth. Senior Briar Sweat (190) and freshman Caleb Carson (132) each finished sixth.
Also competing were Shaun Traxler and Wyatt Stewart .
The Lady Bears garnered a fifthplace finish in the 12-team girls’ bracket.
Freshmen Jayden Altman (110) and Josie Insalaco (125) captured their respective weight divisions. Altman went 4-0 with four pinfall victories. Insalaco finished 5-0 with each match ending with a pin.
Sophomore Joselyn Barrera (145) finished third with Elizabeth Insalaco (135) placing fourth. Also competing were freshman Zy Hightower (170), sophomore Bella Harvey (155) along with juniors Megan Stanley (140) and Jessie Reed (235).
