WAYCROSS — Delia Christine Taylor Hewett, 83, of Waycross, died Thursday evening, November 13, 2025, at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born in Manor to the late William Riley Taylor and Lena Corbitt Whitaker. Raised in Manor, she had made Ware County her home for her entire life. She worked for the Ware County Board of Education and was a member of Liberty Christian Church. Ms. Hewett was a friendly, kind and compassionate soul, who welcomed anyone into her home and always encouraged anyone she came in contact with. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter and sister who cherished any moment she was able to spend with her family.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert L. Crews; her second husband, Tommie Hewett; two sons, Bobby Edward Crews, Sr., and James Aaron Crews; her grandchildren and great grandchildren,

Rilae Maybee, Nalin Hensley, Charles L. Brown, Jr., James Wendell Brown, Clifton Flener and Holton Flener; one brother, Riley Jack Taylor; and one sister, Deloris Gill.
Ms. Hewett is survived by four children, Elaine Hodges and her husband, Wayne, of Waresboro, Robert Crews of Waycross, Mary Lorraine Dowling of Blackshear, and Peggy Crews of Waycross; 20 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held November 17 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Waresboro Cemetery.
