The Waycross Journal-Herald’s Empty Stocking Fund Christmas tradition stands at $200 entering its second week.
The annual fundraiser collected more than $8,624 last year. Since 1984, the newspaper’s effort has totaled $323,099.64.
Since 2019 under Head Publishing, LLC., the Empty Stocking Fund has collected and distributed $55,421.50.
Among the first donations this year was one for $100 in memory of Roy Harris and David LeRoy Harris in hopes of making a child smile.
Contributions for the program will be accepted through the month of December. Donations to the fund may be delivered from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., weekdays to the Journal- Herald office at 311 Carsw ell Avenue or mailed to:
