Sallet’s meal for homeless Nov. 21 The Sallet family will offer its annual Thanksgiving meal for the homeless from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, November 21.

The meal of a meat, sides and beverage will be available for carryout at 818 Summit Street. There will be tables and chairs under tents on the home’s lawn for those who want to eat on site.

Gaines Chapel sets Homecoming

Gaines Chapel AME Church, 801 South Georgia Parkway East, celebrates its 156th Homecoming/Anniversary with a special service at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 23.

Second Baptist collects shoeboxes Second Baptist Church, 301 Tomberlin Road, again is the collection point for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes through Monday, November 24.

Schedule for Second Baptist’s collection is: November 19 and 21, 10 a.m.noon; November 20, 5-7 p.m.; November 22, 9-11 p.m.; November 23, 2-4 p.m.; November 24, 7-9 a.m.

Shoeboxes are dropped off under the church’s shelter at the Fellowship Hall. To access that area, use the driveway on the right side of the main building.

Area churches and individuals dropped off 2,691 showboxes last year. For more information, call (912) 283-0436.

Austin Chapel sets family, friends day Austin Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 508 Hamilton Street, holds its annual Family and Friends Day Sunday, November 30.

The Rev. Dr. Antony Davis is church pastor.

Christmas worship at Faith Outreach Faith Outreach Ministries, 200 Tebeau Street, has scheduled its Spiritual Stronghold Christmas Program for 7 p.m., Monday, December 22.

Pastor, Elder Eddie Joyner will deliver the message for the special program.

Theme is: “The steps of a good man are order by the Lord; and He delights in his way” from Psalms 37: 23. Colors are baby blue and silver.

DC Downtown has food ministry DC Downtown Food Ministry offers food items from a 5,000-square foot warehouse at 201 Jenkins Street from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The ministry serves people from more than a dozen counties in southeast Georgia and north Florida.

River of Life starts resource program River of Life Church, 1439 Brunel Street, offers a community resource center from 10 a.m. to noon, the fourth Friday of each month.

The River Missions program will offer practical life skills, hot meals, clothing and more. Next session is November 28.

Way of Cross EPC has food giveaway Way of the Cross EPC holds a free food and clothing giveaway at 8 a.m. the first Saturday of each month at 512 Lee Avenue.

People should bring a bag or box for items. The first-come, first-served giveaway will next be held December 6.

Items are available from donations by Waycross Food Distributor, Southern Acre Farm, LLC and Charlie’s Chicken.

Men With Power meets 1st Saturday Men With Power meets the first Saturday of each month at Faith Outreach Ministries, 200 Tebeau Street.

The next meeting is 9 a.m. Saturday, December 6. The session is open to all men and boys.
