Special to The Beacon Local writer Cherry Dawn Langley Chambers is celebrating publication of her seventh novel, Quill & Ink, the sequel to Quill & Feathers.
The characters of Quill & Feathers hail from wellknown locales in Brantley County including the Satilla River, Waynesville, Nahunta and Hoboken.
Cherry Dawn says all her novel settings revolve around her Southeast Georgia hometown in Brantley County as well as Waycross and the Golden Isles.
“I like local color, and I love using real place, and sometimes real people in my stories,” she said. “I was born in Brunswick, but my mama’s family (the Harrisons) lived right here on the Old Post Road (aka County Line) since way before I was born. I’m still proud to be a Southern author and I want my roots to show!”
The Gold House restaurant in Nahunta became the author’s launching pad for a group of writers calling thems elves Quill & Feathers. This second Quill novel features the muchloved character, Carl Chuckford, and, responding to reader requests, the author is exploring additional Kneeknocker Jim anecdotes about swamp living.
Quill & Ink also continues the tradition of featuring colorful artwork by members of the Brantley County Art Association and other artists.
Quill & Ink as well as Chambers’ other novels are available at Creative Corner and Deja Brew in Nahunta. Okefenokee Heritage Center in Waycross will also carry autographed copies.
