Anwar Navarrius Padgett sadly Tuesday, November 11, 2025, unexpectedly gained his wings at the young age of 47.
He was born March 22, 1978 at Pierce County Hospital to Sabrina Padgett and James Padgett. He attended Pierce County High School and played the bass drum for the Sound of Silver Marching Band. Anwar was reared in Bethel Temple First Born Church of the Living God, Inc. in Blackshear, under the leadership of the late Bishop George Burse and Bishop AJ Myles.
He loved to sing and dance. A lot of people did not know this about him, but he was a great singer! He could sing and harmonize just like any other McGauley. He had a great passion for canine training. He worked for Mossy Pond Lodge in Offerman for many years before they sent him to New York to work as well, but as usual he found his way back home.
He was devoted to helping his family and others. He hardly met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Minister Mary Jean and Thomas Lee McGauley Sr., his parents, Sabrina Padgett and James Padgett and his siblings Arias and Joshua Padgett.
He leaves cherished memories to his children Darien McBride, Douglas, Ageisha Padgett, Savannah, Amari Brown, Waycross and Zoe Green, Savannah; his sisters, Denetria (Bobby Sr.) Keyhea, Lincoln, NE and Alexia Padgett, Waycross; his nieces and nephews Bobby Jr., Camilla, Demarius, Kane and Jakariah (KK); his former spouse, Tanisha Dorsey Padgett; he also leaves his beloved aunts Vaneice (David Sr.) Harris and Zelma Latson and his uncle Ronald McGauley. He leaves cherished memories of childhood and adulthood with his favorite cousin/ godsister Germiska McGauley-Miles who he had a special bond and connection with. He leaves to mourn a host of relatives and grieving friends who love him very much.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at the Lee Street Resource Center, 623 Sycamore Street, Blackshear.
