
Morris Taft, 76, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday evening, November 12, 2025, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, following an extended illness.
Born February 7, 1949, in Douglas, he was a son of the late Luther and Genieva Reliford Taft. He lived most of his life in Coffee and Pierce Counties and worked as a farmer and for Gillis Brothers for 47 years as an equipment operator.
He enjoyed dove hunting, fishing, working on vehicles and talking to anyone he encountered. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Hutchison and Kathleen Muncie and two brothers, Harvey Taft and Lester Taft.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Boyett Taft, Blackshear; six children, David Taft (wife Shelly), Blackshear, Angie Holton (husband Pong), Douglas, Michael Taft (wife Kim), Broxton, Jon Taft (wife Glenda), Waycross, Pam Boatright (husband Bryan), Mershon and Jason Dixon (wife Desire), Montgomery, AL; 13 grandchildren, David Morris Taft, Cameron Taft, Boone (Stephen) Sasser, Rain Holton, Devan (Randi) Shireman, Erin (Elijah) Sayer , Rodney Reaves, Bo (Emma) Swanson, Whitney (Chris) Cardin, Logan Sandiford, Mason Boatright, Natalie Dixon and Evan Dixon; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patsy Herndon (husband Richard) and Sara Herndon (husband Bill), both of Millwood and Janice Haley (husband Mike), Dixie Union; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Chancey officiating.
A private burial will be held in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
