FEMA funds will be used for the long awaited road repairs
Hacklebarney Road near its intersection with Cason Road at the Whitney Lakes Subdivision will be closed from now through the New Year.
K-Dug contracting will be working on repairs of the culvert there for the next two months.
The new $445,464.50 culvert will help correct a major infrastructure problem with the road.
A detour will be in place using Meadow Wood Road or Cason Road to Jamestown.
The road washed out at the dam near the lake in Whitney Lakes during last year’s hurricane.
One lane of the road has been stabilized and has been open since the storm, but county officials have said another heavy rainfall event could take out the entire roadway.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) relief funds will be used for the repairs.
Hacklebarney and Cason Roads are both on the Transportation Investment Act (TIA) list and the culvert issue needs to be fixed before the road is paved.
