Memorial Satilla, YMCA build better health together

Memorial Satilla Health has announced their financial support for the new EGYM (e-gym) Zone coming soon to the YMCA of Waycross. The hospital has committed $75,000 toward the equipment set to be unveiled at the YMCA’s EGYM launch party and ribbon cutting ceremony.

EGYMs are computer integrated workout areas with equipment that automatically adjust to individual users’ specific settings and fitness needs.

“By helping the YMCA offer modern, effective equipment, we're making it easier for families to take charge of their wellbeing. This investment shows how much we value a healthy community, where everyone has the tools they need to enhance their quality of life,” said CEO Damon Barrett.

“We’re deeply thankful for Memorial Satilla Health’s dedication to preventive care and community wellness. Their investment in our YMCA helps ensure that people of all ages and fitness levels have the tools and support they need to thrive,” said Rusty Hall, executive director. “This partnership represents more than new equipment. It’s a shared commitment to building a healthier, stronger community. Together, we’re empowering individuals and families to take charge of their well-being through modern, accessible fitness technology that makes healthy living achievable for everyone.

Consistent exercise is a key pillar of preventive care. Adults who meet the minimum physical activity guidelines (150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week) can see a 22-31 percent lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease.

The YMCA’s EGYM launch party and ribbon cutting ceremony is 5 pm November 18 at the YMCA in Waycross. The public is invited to attend.
