CARROLLTON — Pierce County’s Lady Bears finished well behind the pace of champion Savannah Arts Academy here Saturday in the Class AA crosscountry finals.
The Lady Bears placed 12th in the November 8 2o-team finals finishing totaling 322 points. The Lady Panthers had four runners finish in the top nine spots to finish with 37 points securing a third consecutive title.
Columbus was right there on the heels of the eventual champs finishing with 44 points having three of the first five participants cross the finish line.
The rest of the Top 10 consisted of East Jackson (110), Union County (118), Franklin County (145), Pike County (228), Spencer (232), Rockmart (245), Coahulla Creek (256) and Sonoraville (291).
Spots 11 thru 20 went to Murray County (306), PCHS, Morgan County (323), Drew Charter (323), Therrell (397), North Murray (446), KIPP Atlanta Collegiate (453), Shaw (474), Salem (487) and A.R. Johnson Health Science (536).
The Lady Bears were led by Selah Griffis, who posted a time of 27:27.52 to finish 54th in the field of 127 runners. The winning time was 20:54.21.
Following Griffis were Baylee Rose Tippins (65th; 28:12.36), Nevaeh Grant (70th; 28:37.59), Rilie DePratter (74th; 28:50.83), Ana Llamas-Diaz (94th; 30:53.98), Addison Folette (109th; 33:23.65) and Myla Martinez (114th; 35:00.60).
