The Waycross Journal-Herald’s Christmas tradition, known as the
Empty Stocking Fund, has started its 2025 drive with a pair of $100 donations.
The annual fundraiser collected more than $8,624 last year. Since 1984, the newspaper’s effort has totaled $323,099.64.
Since 2019 under Head Publishing, LLC., the Empty Stocking Fund has collected and distributed $55,421.50.
The Empty Stocking Fund’s biggest year came in 2014 when $13,632.48 was contributed. The second- highest total was in 2021 with $12,215.
The fund raises money for those who find themselves facing circumstances whereby there is a lack of sufficient resources for their shortterm situation.
Contributions for the program will be accepted through the month of December. Donations to the fund may be delivered from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., weekdays to the Journal-Herald office at 311 Carswell Avenue or mailed to:

A weekly progress report of the fund will appear on Page 1 of the newspaper.
