Post 517 celebrates 77th anniversary America Legion John S. Sutton Post 517, 710 Dorothy Street, holds its 77th anniversary from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, November 15.
The post will honor its 48 charter members who initiated the organization, November 15, 1948.

Ware GOP hosts District 1 candidate The Ware County Republican Party welcomes First District Congressional candidate Matt Day to its monthly meeting next week.
Day will speak and take questions during the meeting Monday, November 17 at Hog ‘n’ Bones, 1900 Memorial Drive. A Dutch treat meal is at 6 p.m. with the the program at 6:30 p.m.
Day is one of seven candidates vying for the GOP nomination for the seat being vacated by Buddy Carter, who’s running for the party’s U.S. Senate nomination to face incumbent John Ossoff next year.
Day, of Douglas, operates a cattle farm in his native Georgia as well as three nationwide businesses in the glass and construction industry. According to his campaign website, Day believes if America is going to change, it must begin with Congress.

Dine & Dash Elf Run slated Dec. 6 Satilla Advocacy Services holds its Dash & Dine Elf Run, at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 6.
The 3k and mile fun run are in memory of Cindy Tanner, and all proceeds benefit Satilla Advocacy. Food trucks will be on site and local restaurants will be open downtown.

Swamp Park opens Holiday Light Show Okefenokee Swamp Park, 5700 Swamp Park Road, begins its annual Holiday Light Show, later this month.
Cost is $14 for ages 13up an $12 for those 4-12. Children 3-under are free.
